Chief Minister, during a public address in Dehuri village of Banjar development block, announced key initiatives including the opening of a Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding School affiliated with CBSE and a 10,000-litre capacity milk processing plant in Banjar. The announcements came as part of his two-day visit under the ‘Sarkar Gaon Ke Dwar’ programme
Reiterating the state’s commitment to educational reforms, the Sukhu emphasized that unlike the previous government, which opened institutions without staff or facilities, his administration is focused on strengthening existing schools with teachers and infrastructure. He highlighted recent steps such as the establishment of a new Directorate of School Education and the introduction of English medium classes.
In a strong message to neighboring states, CM Sukhu stated that Himachal Pradesh would release waters from the Kishau Dam only after receiving long-pending arrears related to Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB). “I have made it clear in Delhi that no water will be released until Delhi and Haryana file an affidavit in the Supreme Court and commit to paying the dues pending for 14 years,” he said.
The Chief Minister also criticized former CM Jairam Thakur for allegedly misusing public funds and contributing to a decline in education standards. He accused the BJP of internal strife and failing to stand with the people during the 2023 natural disaster. “They didn’t approach the Centre even once, while we revised compensation norms and supported affected families,” Sukhu asserted, citing enhanced aid from ₹1.5 lakh to ₹7 lakh for fully damaged houses.
Highlighting rural development, Sukhu pointed out hikes in support prices: cow milk from ₹32 to ₹51, buffalo milk from ₹47 to ₹61 per litre, maize at ₹40/kg, and wheat at ₹60/kg. A transport subsidy of ₹2/litre for milk is also being offered. He announced a ₹100 crore Rajiv Gandhi Forest Conservation Scheme involving Mahila Mandals and Yuvak Mandals for afforestation efforts.
MLA Sunder Singh Thakur welcomed the CM’s initiatives, calling them a “historic gift” for Banjar, Seraj, and Tirthan Valleys. He praised the state’s green policies and acknowledged Sukhu’s longstanding commitment to Kullu.
Chairman APMC Kullu, Ram Singh Mian, along with other dignitaries and local leaders, expressed gratitude for the developmental push and the CM’s grassroots outreach.
