CM Sukhu has instructed the Health Department to ensure that patients do not have to wait for essential diagnostic services such as CT scans, X-rays and ultrasounds. He said the government is equipping healthcare institutions with modern diagnostic facilities and adequate manpower and directed the department to make every effort to achieve the goal of zero waiting time for these critical services.
Chairing a meeting with the Diagnostic Departments of Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla and Super Speciality Hospital, Chamiyana, the Chief Minister also invited suggestions from doctors to further improve diagnostic facilities and help realise the objective of prompt and efficient patient care.
He said the State Government is giving top priority to filling vacant posts of doctors, paramedical staff and technical personnel to strengthen healthcare delivery. This, he said, would enable people to access advanced medical treatment within Himachal Pradesh, reducing the need to seek specialised healthcare outside the state. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to modernising health infrastructure and ensuring quality healthcare services for every citizen.
Addressing a long-pending demand of doctors at IGMC, the Chief Minister announced that the institution would soon be equipped with a 256-slice CT scan machine. He added that the government has allocated sufficient financial resources for the health and education sectors and would continue to provide all necessary support to further improve public healthcare facilities.
The Chief Minister also stated that the government is undertaking comprehensive upgradation of healthcare infrastructure in all government medical colleges. He said an outlay of Rs. 3,000 crore has been earmarked for the procurement of advanced medical equipment on par with facilities available at AIIMS, New Delhi. These state-of-the-art machines will be installed not only in medical colleges but also in district, zonal and civil hospitals across Himachal Pradesh to improve access to high-quality healthcare services.
