Former Minister and senior Congress leader Ram Lal Thakur met Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and expressed his appreciation for the state government’s decision to restore academic streams at two government colleges in Bilaspur district.
Thakur thanked the Chief Minister for reinstating the Commerce stream at Government College, Naina Devi Ji, and the Science and Commerce streams at Government College, Jukhala. He said the move would greatly benefit students by allowing them to pursue higher education closer to their homes without having to relocate.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening the education sector and ensuring access to quality education across the state. He said the present government has given the highest priority to education and has undertaken several reform-oriented initiatives to improve academic standards.
He added that these efforts have helped Himachal Pradesh secure the fifth position in quality education rankings, a significant improvement from the 21st position during the previous BJP government’s tenure.
