In a major push toward rural-first governance and equitable regional development, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu concluded an intensive three-day tour of the remote Rohru and Rampur Assembly constituencies in Shimla district. Marking a historic milestone, Sukhu became the state’s first Chief Minister to stay overnight in the secluded mountain hamlets of Bhatwari and Kasha-Pat. By conducting ‘Sarkar Gaon Ke Dwar’ public interactions directly in these secluded areas, the Chief Minister dedicated 61 development projects worth ₹182.87 crore in Rohru and 28 projects worth ₹232.93 crore in Rampur, while also leading Anti-Chitta rallies to eradicate drug abuse.
To support rural livelihoods, CM Sukhu announced key economic measures for farmers and livestock owners, including a procurement price hike for apples under the Market Intervention Scheme (MIS) from ₹12 to ₹13 per kilogram and an increase in milk support prices starting December 1. Connectivity and administrative reforms were also prioritized, with ₹36 crore sanctioned for the Tikker-Jarol-Gahan road to assist apple growers, alongside plans to make the Barshil Bridge motorable, introduce a new bus service connecting Kasha-Pat to Rampur via Taklech, establish a Sub-Tehsil at Samarkot, upgrade CHC Sandasu to a Civil Hospital, and survey the setup of an SDM office at Chirgaon.
Educational infrastructure received an immediate boost, with the Chief Minister spot-sanctioning ₹2 crore each for new school buildings at PM Shri GMSS Rohru, Racholi, and Kasha-Pat, while transitioning schools in Jangla, Chirgaon, Dhamwari, and Taklech to the CBSE curriculum. Additionally, the welfare drive extended to local communities through grants of ₹5 lakh each for Mahila Mandals and the distribution of ₹5.78 crore in direct financial relief to 1,471 registered construction workers and their dependents at Nogli.
