Colours of Navras showcased during Annual Day Function — Dayanand Public School, the nine Rasas portrayed by the students through their dance performances were Love, Joy, Wonder, Peace, Anger, Courage, Sadness, Fear and Disgust.

dayanand.28.3 (3)Students of Dayanand Public School celebrated their Annual Function here today in the school premises with great enthusiasm and excitement as Punam Suri, President of DAV College Managing Committee Delhi, presided over the function as the chief guest while Mani Suri and J. Kakaria, Director Public Schools, Delhi DAVCCMC, were the guests of honour. Other guests included Dr K. S. Arya, Dr Vijender Singh, P. Sofat, Rama Pawan and Principals of DAV schools from all over India. The guests were warmly welcomed by the School Principal and Regional Director of HP Zone II, Shashi Kiran Gupta, who guided all towards the exhibition hall, where brilliant creations prepared by the senior students of the school were beautifully showcased.

dayanand.28.3 (2)The function began with the inauguration of a 50 years time capsule containing the history of the school since March 1988 till March 2015, which was sealed and buried in the presence of Punam Suri and other dignitaries. Principal Gupta greeted all the guests and parents on this special occasion and said, “The 2013-14 session was a great year for us with new achievements such as excellence in academics as our students made us proud with their 10th and 12th class results. As our journey continues, we take on new challenges, new solutions and new heights. We feel very proud to see our students grow into confident young adults ready to take on life.”

The opening speech was followed by a vibrant Gujrati Folk Dance by students of Class 12, after which a prize distribution ceremony was held wherein trophies and certificates were given to students who had fared well in academics, co-curricular activities and sports. During the occasion the school report was presented and a magazine titled ‘Journey Together’ was released by the Chief Guest.

dayanand.28.3 (1)An extravagant show of dance and drama was presented by the students of different classes as they gave few stunning dance performances on the theme of nine Rasas (Navras) which are the essential aspects or energies that define a set of emotions and moods that thus belong to the same “family” or Rasa. Knowing the nine Rasas helps us understand why a certain mood comes and stays even though its original cause may be long gone and how to use that knowledge in achieving more emotional control. The nine Rasas portrayed by the students through their dance performances were Love, Joy, Wonder, Peace, Anger, Courage, Sadness, Fear and Disgust. Names of a few participants who won the hearts of the guests and parents were Jayant Sharma, Amandeep Singh, Satyam Sharma, Rupali Bhan, Gandharv, Dixita Vashist, Kiran Dogra, Avijit Gupta, Divyanshu Guleria, Divya Chauhan, Ayushi , Mehak Dhawan and Priyanka Dogra among others.

The event officially concluded with a speech by the chief guest, who congratulated and lauded the efforts of all the prize winners. He also congratulated the principal of the school, Shashi Kiran for setting excellent standards for the students and encouraging them to do better in not only academics but also co-curricular activities. Lastly, he appreciated the presence of parents to support and encourage their children.
