CM Sukhu on Tuesday accused the previous BJP government of pushing Himachal Pradesh into a financial crisis while addressing the Congress Seva Dal Karyakarta Sammelan at Rajiv Bhawan, Shimla.
Sukhu said the previous government received nearly Rs. 60,000 crore through GST compensation and RDG, and if a major portion of these funds had been used for debt repayment, Himachal could have become debt-free. He said the present government, despite receiving much lower financial support, was working towards making the state self-reliant.
Highlighting his government’s achievements, the Chief Minister said education reforms had helped Himachal improve its quality education ranking from 21st to fifth position. He also pointed out the introduction of robotic surgery facilities in government hospitals as a major healthcare reform.
Sukhu alleged corruption in the previous government’s tenure, including irregularities in the Himcare scheme, and assured that strict action would be taken against those responsible.
He said the government was focused on creating employment opportunities and had completed recruitment for 1,000 police constable posts, with another 800 posts to be filled soon.
Appealing to Congress workers to strengthen public outreach, Sukhu urged them to take government welfare schemes to every household.
HPCC President Vinay Kumar highlighted the 103-year legacy of Congress Seva Dal and called for unity among party workers to further strengthen the organisation.
