Director XI Defeats Chairman XI by 59 Runs in HPPCL Foundation Day Cricket Final

Shimla: The final match of the cricket tournament organized on the occasion of the 19th Foundation Day of Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (HPPCL) witnessed an exciting contest, in which Director XI defeated Chairman XI by 59 runs. The tournament was held at the BCS School playground with enthusiastic participation from officials and employees.

After winning the toss, Director XI elected to bat first and posted a competitive total of 170 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Sandeep Bhardwaj led the batting performance with a quick 37 runs off just 20 balls, while Naresh Thakur contributed a steady 32 runs from 39 deliveries.

Chasing the target, Chairman XI failed to build momentum and were bowled out for 110 runs in 18 overs. Abhishek Kumar delivered an impressive bowling performance for Director XI, claiming four wickets and playing a key role in the team’s victory.

Sandeep Bhardwaj was adjudged Man of the Match for his impactful innings. Sunny Kumar was named Man of the Series and also received awards for Best Batsman and Best All-Rounder. Naresh Thakur was honored with the Best Fielder award for his outstanding fielding display.

As part of the Foundation Day sports events, a football match was also played between Blue XI and Red XI, in which Blue XI emerged victorious with a 3–1 win. Narendra Thakur was awarded the Best Striker title for his performance in the football match.

HPPCL Managing Director Shri Abid Hussain Sadiq presented prizes and trophies to the winning players and teams. Director (Personnel) Shri Naresh Thakur, Director (Civil) Shri Surender Kumar, and Director (Electrical) Shri Manish Mahajan were also present on the occasion.

The sporting events added enthusiasm and camaraderie to the Foundation Day celebrations, reflecting the spirit of teamwork and sportsmanship within the Corporation.
