Dy CM of Himachal Pradesh, Mukesh Agnihotri, met Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi today, where he advocated for key transport-related demands to strengthen the state’s infrastructure.
Acknowledging the Centre’s continued support to Himachal Pradesh, Agnihotri emphasized the need for robust road and bridge infrastructure, crucial for the development of hilly regions with challenging terrain.
A major proposal put forth was the extension of the All India Taxi Permit validity from 12 to 15 years, in alignment with the 15-year vehicle scrapping policy. Agnihotri highlighted that this change is a long-pending demand of commercial transport operators. The Deputy CM also requested the release of ₹7.63 crore under the central capital investment assistance scheme, particularly for incentives related to scrapping old vehicles.

Further, he proposed the extension of the four-laning of NH-503A (Amritsar–Hoshiarpur route) up to Jhaleda via Bankhandi (HP border), covering about 15 km. This stretch, he noted, would enhance access to two key religious sites—Shree Anandpur Sahib and Mata Chintpurni—boosting religious tourism and connectivity.
Highlighting industrial logistics, Agnihotri also raised the need to improve connectivity between Chandigarh and the Baddi industrial corridor, a matter Gadkari confirmed is under active government consideration.
Additionally, the Deputy CM sought approval and funding of ₹48.69 crore under CRIF for the upgradation of the Jaijon Modh to Tahliwal Chowk road via Bhai-Ka-Modh, including the construction of three new bridges.
