In a spirited celebration of environmental responsibility and community partnership, B Company of the 133 Eco Task Force (ETF) launched a major Community Plantation Drive in the picturesque Jognidhar area of the Kullu Forest Division.
The initiative, held as part of the Unit Raising Day celebrations, brought together ETF personnel, local villagers, and representatives from the Bharauli Panchayat in a shared mission to green the Himalayan landscape. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of around 50 individuals, who collectively planted approximately 800 saplings. The selection of native tree species was aimed at enhancing regional biodiversity and addressing the growing concerns of soil erosion and habitat loss.
Beyond the plantation, the event also served an educational purpose. ETF personnel conducted an awareness session on afforestation, emphasizing the crucial role of forests in climate regulation, water conservation, and livelihood protection for mountain communities. The session sparked active discussion, with local youth and elders sharing their knowledge of traditional ecological practices and expressing support for such initiatives.
A senior ETF officer highlighted the broader significance of the event, stating, “This collaborative effort underscores our commitment to ‘Nation First’ by fostering harmony between the armed forces and the natural ecosystems we serve within.” Panchayat officials echoed this sentiment, commending the ETF’s initiative as a step forward in achieving sustainable development goals in Himachal Pradesh.
This greening drive stands as a testament to the power of community engagement, ecological awareness, and institutional collaboration in protecting the fragile Himalayan environment for generations to come.
