Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar said today that the Renuka Ji fair is a manifestation of the reverence and devotion of Lord Parshuram towards his mother Goddess Renuka Ji and it upholds the rich values of Indian society. He was addressing the concluding ceremony of the International fair at Renuka Ji in Sirmaur district. The Governor said that fairs and festivals are symbols of the rich cultural heritage of the state and should be preserved at all costs. He congratulated all for their contribution in successful organisation of the fair and said that Goddess Renuka Ji has its own religious sanctity and people from within and outside the state visit the place to pay their obeisance. He performed pooja in Lord Parshuram Ji and Mata Renuka Ji temples and also participated in the ‘Dev Vidai’ procession.
Later, the Governor also saw the final kabbadi match played between ex-servicemen Sangrah and Sports Club Shillai which was won by the Shillai team. He also gave away the prizes to the winning teams in the sports competitions organized during the fair. In Girls’ Badminton Competition, Kashish of Sataun was the first runner up while Swati was the winner. In Mens’ Volleyball, Sain Dhar was the first runner up and AKM Dadahu was the winning team. In Mens’ Basketball competition Nahan Seniors was the first runner up and MMU Ambala won the match. In Girls’ Badminton Ikbal Club Paonta Sahib was the first runner up and Nahan Ballers won the match. Deputy Commissioner and Chairman Shri Renuka Ji Development Board, Ram Kumar Gautam welcomed the Governor and expressed his gratitude for presiding over the closing ceremony of the fair. He also detailed various activities organized during the fair. Superintendent of Police Raman Kumar Meena, Office Bearers of Renuka Development Board, prominent personalities of the area and senior officers of the district were present on the occasion.
