The 45th edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle showcased the growing nationwide fitness movement, uniting more than 14 lakh citizens across 1,20,000 locations. World Boxing Champion Meenakshi Hooda joined the celebrations at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, emphasizing the importance of fitness for women and homemakers.
Launched in December 2024, the initiative now engages over 50,000 participants weekly in over 6,000 locations. Organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in collaboration with the Cycling Federation of India, Yogasana Bharat, and MY Bharat, the campaign encourages citizens to dedicate 30 minutes daily to physical well-being under the motto “Aadha Ghanta Roz – Fitness Ka Dose.”
The campaign draws diverse participation from Central Armed Police Forces, teachers, government employees, MPs/MLAs, doctors, lawyers, healthcare workers, postmen, RWAs, and residents across India, transforming streets and parks into hubs of energy and camaraderie.
This Sunday, leading gym chains such as Cult Fit, Gold’s Gym, Fitness First, and Fitspire joined the drive, promoting open-air workouts, cycling, Zumba, rope skipping, and Yogasana sessions. Fitspire co-founder Hinah Sawhney highlighted that the initiative fosters collective wellness and discipline, making fitness a shared social movement.
Fit India Sundays on Cycle is now celebrated at State capitals, SAI Regional Centres, NCOEs, STCs, KISCEs, and KICs, supported by 3,500 NaMo Fit India Cycling Clubs, reinforcing preventive health and resilience across India. From Kargil to Kerala and Delhi to Chhattisgarh, this citizen-led movement continues to turn local streets into spaces of fitness, promoting the vision of a Fit, Energetic, and Atmanirbhar Bharat.
