As India celebrates 11 years of governance under PM Modi, the Ministry of Labour and Employment has spotlighted its transformative efforts in labour welfare, social security, and public healthcare — marking a decade-plus of inclusive, reform-oriented progress.
Three key institutions in Hyderabad exemplify this change. The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) Regional Office in Barkatpura has emerged as a national benchmark for digital transformation and efficient service delivery. Managing over 27 lakh accounts, the office has successfully implemented 98% of claims under the Pension on Higher Wages scheme and introduced fast-track mechanisms for claim settlements and grievance redressal.
In public healthcare, the ESIC Medical College and Super Specialty Hospital at Sanath Nagar is leading by example. With a capacity of over 1,000 beds and equipped with cutting-edge diagnostics and, the hospital provides comprehensive, patient-centric healthcare services to more than 72 lakh insured beneficiaries. The facility also contributes significantly to medical education and research in the region.
Simultaneously, the Directorate General of Labour Welfare (DGLW) has extended vital social support to over 50 lakh workers in such as beedi, cine, and mining. Through education scholarships, healthcare assistance, and insurance-based social security, the DGLW is ensuring vulnerable communities are not left behind.
To offer a deeper perspective on these impactful initiatives, the Ministry is conducting a Press Tour to Hyderabad from 11th to 14th June 2025. Media personnel will engage with officials, beneficiaries, and frontline workers through interactive sessions, on-ground demonstrations, and site visits. This initiative aims to highlight how 11 years of focused policy and governance under the Modi government have led to meaningful, people-first transformation in the labour and welfare sectors.
