A spokesperson of the state government informed on Monday that on account of the bye-election (in case poll is held) on 10 July 2024, a gazetted holiday has been declared in Dehra, Hamirpur, Nalagarh Assembly constituencies.
This holiday will be applicable to the employees of all the government offices, Boards, Corporations, educational institutions and industrial establishments to enable them to exercise their right to franchise. This will also be a paid holiday for daily wage employees on poll day as provided in Section 135 B of the Representation of People Act, 1951.
The spokesperson said that it will be a special paid holiday for registered voters of Punjab State working in the border areas of Una, Kangra, Chamba, and Solan districts due to the bye-election to Assembly Constituency Jalandhar West in Punjab.
Additionally, a special paid holiday has been declared on the same day for registered voters of Uttarakhand State working in the border areas of Sirmour and Shimla districts in light of the bye-election to Badrinath and Manglaur Assembly Constituencies of Uttarakhand.
This special paid holiday would be applicable to all government and semi-government employees, as well as employees in industrial establishments who are registered voters in the mentioned states under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.
The spokesperson said that apart from this, a special casual leave may be granted to employees working in different places in Himachal Pradesh but voting in other constituencies within the state, upon production of a certificate from the Presiding Officer confirming that the employee has cast their vote.
