It is a unique honour for Guru Nanak Foundation Public School, Mohali to celebrate and rejoice on the birthday of Guru Nanak Dev on whose name the school stands by. Guru Nanak Dev was the first Guru of Sikhs. He founded the Sikh religion.
He was born in the village named Talwandi near Lahore on 15th April, 1469. To inculcate his teachings, School Principal Namita Lal organized a special function where students participated by singing different Gurmukhi hymns and poems.
Some students threw light about his life history and the message of brotherhood. The air was filled with the essence of spiritual aroma. Everyone listened to the message of truth embedded with love and humility. Students were made aware that true happiness comes to a person who has contentment and compassion for others.
Namita said that this type of school functions help children to know more about our religion and customs. She expressed her views saying that we are grateful to God for our fortunes in having given to us Guru Nanak, whose message of universal love, without any difference from caste, creed or colour and the great aspiration of the brotherhood of man, are lessons to inspire all humanity.
