Addressing the two-day All India Sanskrit Bharati Seminar at the KBVM Institute of Nursing in Malkwal, Kangra, Governor Kavinder Gupta emphasized that Sanskrit is far more than just a language—it is the soul of India and the cornerstone of its civilisation, philosophy, and scientific heritage. Commending Sanskrit Bharati for its nationwide efforts to popularize the language as a medium of daily communication, the Governor noted that foundational texts such as the Vedas, Upanishads, Ramayana, and Mahabharata have preserved India’s rich moral, philosophical, and human values over thousands of years.
Coinciding with the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Governor led participants in taking the National Unity Pledge, recalling Patel’s decisive leadership in uniting 562 princely states. He stressed that India’s education system must accord full recognition to ancient scholars like Aryabhata, Panini, Sushruta, and Bhaskaracharya, alongside historical learning seats such as Takshashila and Nalanda. Emphasizing that Himachal Pradesh proudly recognizes Sanskrit as its second official state language, he urged families to actively preserve their mother tongues through everyday use to keep local heritage alive.
Looking toward the future, the Governor called for a seamless bridge between ancient wisdom and modern scientific research, highlighting how digital tools, artificial intelligence, and technology can unlock the rich insights of Sanskrit literature in fields like astronomy, mathematics, and Ayurveda. Encouraging universities to foster innovation in Sanskrit studies, he urged the youth to embrace the language not merely as an academic subject, but as a vital pillar of their cultural identity essential for building a ‘Viksit Bharat’.
