Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla emphasized the importance of constructive criticism in Indian politics, stating that India could achieve developed nation status well before 2047 if meaningful dialogue replaces mere fault-finding. He was speaking at a national conference and book release event organized by the Narendra Modi Study Centre at the India International Centre, New Delhi, on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday. Themed “Viksit Bharat@2047: Roadmap for Inclusive Development, Social Justice, and Sustainable Growth,” the event highlighted the Prime Minister’s vision for a strong, self-reliant, and inclusive India.

As Chief Guest, Governor Shukla praised PM Modi’s transformative leadership over the past 11 years, noting that the development under his guidance had deeply impacted citizens’ daily lives through innovative governance, social justice initiatives, women empowerment, clean energy promotion, and global cooperation. He lauded the functioning of the GST Council as an example of cooperative federalism, where tax reforms were passed unanimously, reflecting the true spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’.

Highlighting the success of key initiatives like the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, the Governor shared that the scheme brought banking access to millions, with deposits reaching nearly ₹56,000 crore within a year. Inspired by the Prime Minister’s vision, he also spoke about his own campaign, “Drug-Free Himachal,” which has now become a grassroots movement across the state.

During the event, Governor Shukla released seven books based on the life and contributions of Prime Minister Modi. Former Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi also shared his views, while Prof. Jaseem Mohammad, convener of the programme, welcomed the Governor. Notable attendees included Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of Central University of Haryana, and Dr. Basan Goyal, President of Sarvarth Seva Foundation.
