Governor honours 356 toppers of 28 Schools

Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla emphasized the importance of character development in education, asserting that the nation’s future hinges on its youth. He highlighted that the primary goal of education should be to nurture strong, ethical individuals, believing that other achievements would naturally follow from this foundation.

He stated this while addressing the “Shimla Ke Medhavi” event organized by a renowned vernacular daily here today. The Governor honoured 356 top-performing students from 28 schools in Shimla during the event.

Congratulating the exceptional students, the Governor encouraged them to aim for nation-building and to remain focused while adapting the modern techniques. He acknowledged the competitive pressures faced by students today and advised parents to support their children in exploring their own paths and interests, rather than imposing rigid expectations.

Expressing concern over the rising drug addiction in the state, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla urged teachers to play a proactive role in creating awareness regarding this social vice. The Governor also highlighted the importance of holistic development, continuous education, environmental protection and active participation of students in sports.

He commended the Media Group for organizing the event, noting that the awards presented serve as motivation for students to pursue nation-building goals. He encouraged students to achieve extraordinary success through hard work, determination and learning, emphasizing that every student has unique talent and abilities. It is the duty of parents and teachers to ensure their comprehensive development.

Education Minister Rohit Thakur was also present on the occasion. He said that the state government was committed to enhancing the quality of education. The educational facilities have expanded to remote areas and the focus is now on strengthening existing institutions.  Efforts are underway to fill vacant teaching posts and to improve the cluster system, establish schools of excellence and ensure high-quality education, said the Minister.
