The Government of India on Wednesday said it is closely monitoring developments in West Asia while ensuring smooth functioning across critical sectors, including energy, mining, transport, and citizen safety.

The Ministry of Mines has engaged with industry stakeholders to assess supply needs, holding multiple meetings with aluminium, copper, and industry associations to address concerns. Coordination with other ministries is ongoing to ensure uninterrupted availability of essential inputs.

In the energy sector, the government assured that supplies of petrol, diesel, LPG, PNG, and CNG remain stable. Domestic LPG supply has been prioritised, with no shortages reported at distribution points. Citizens have been advised against panic buying and encouraged to conserve energy and use alternative fuels.

Public sector oil companies have ramped up awareness drives for 5 kg LPG cylinders, organising over 5,600 camps since April 3 and selling more than 69,000 cylinders. Auto LPG demand has shifted towards PSU companies, with sales rising by 62 percent.

Authorities said enforcement actions are underway nationwide to curb hoarding and black marketing, with thousands of inspections conducted and strict action taken against erring distributors.

India’s refinery operations are running at high capacity, maintaining adequate fuel stocks. Retail fuel outlets are functioning normally, and prices remain unchanged despite global volatility.

In the maritime sector, port operations across the country continue without disruption, and Indian seafarers in the region remain safe. Over 2,400 seafarers have been repatriated so far.

The Ministry of External Affairs said it is actively assisting Indian nationals in the region. Since February 28, around 10.10 lakh passengers have returned to India. The Indian Embassy in Iran has facilitated the evacuation of 2,348 citizens via Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The government reiterated that all necessary measures are in place to ensure energy security, supply stability, and the safety of Indian citizens amid the evolving geopolitical situation.
