Under the Anti-Chitta Jan Andolan launched on 15 November 2025 by CM Sukhu, the Himachal Pradesh Police executed a coordinated statewide operation targeting organized drug trafficking networks. Using strict legal provisions under the PIT-NDPS Act, preventive detention orders were issued against eight notorious traffickers.
A police spokesperson stated that during the operation, five traffickers were arrested in Shimla, and one each in Dehra, Nurpur, and Una. Intelligence-driven and carefully coordinated across districts, the operation disrupted major drug supply chains.
So far, 96 habitual and organized drug traffickers have been detained—65 until December 2025, and 31 more in 2026—demonstrating the police’s continued resolve to eliminate drug trafficking. Authorities are investigating the movable and immovable assets of the detainees, and any properties acquired through illegal drug profits will be seized to dismantle their financial networks.
The spokesperson emphasized that the operation reflects the state’s zero-tolerance policy toward organized drug crime. The Himachal Pradesh Police will continue to target habitual traffickers, dismantling their criminal networks, finances, and supply chains, with the goal of ensuring a drug-free and safe future for the youth of the state.
The police urged citizens, especially the youth, to report any information on chitta or other narcotics by calling 112 or visiting the nearest police station. Informants’ identities will be kept strictly confidential.
