Himachal Rugby Squads Ready for Senior Nationals

The Rugby Association of Himachal Pradesh (RAHP) has finalized the state’s Men’s and Women’s rugby teams following the state-level selection trials held at Paonta Sahib on April 4, 2026. The trials saw enthusiastic participation from around 80 players, officials, and volunteers, signaling the growing popularity of rugby across the state.

RAHP General Secretary Vishal Sarin highlighted that the trials were a key step in strengthening the state’s presence in national-level competitions. The selections were made for the Senior National Games in Bihar, where Himachal Pradesh will field both men’s and women’s teams.

From a total of 28 women and 30 men, the top 15 performers in each category have been shortlisted. The final squads of 12 players each will be finalized after further evaluation during the training camp.

Women’s Top Probables (12): Shardha (Bilaspur), Inam (Sirmaur), Kavita (Shimla), Rubi (Sirmaur), Ankisha (Sirmaur), Partibha (Sirmaur), Anjali (Bilaspur), Vishakha (Sirmaur), Taniya (Shimla), Saloni (Sirmaur), Sakshi (Sirmaur), Kajal (Sirmaur)
Standby Players: Isha, Kalpna, Priyanka Sharma (Sirmaur)

Men’s Top Probables (12): Gagan, Abhay, Aadarsh, Sanjay, Vishal, Sahil, Govind, Ritik Pal, Sumit, Suryansh, Karan Kumar, Arvind
Standby Players: Vijay, Ishant, Intezaar

The trials were conducted under a technical panel comprising Sudhir Kumar, Pankaj Prabhakar, Dharmender Kumar, Navpreet Singh, and Nirmala, ensuring a transparent and merit-based selection process.

Sarin reiterated RAHP’s commitment to identifying talent from all corners of the state and providing players opportunities to compete at the national stage. He expressed confidence that the selected squads would represent Himachal Pradesh with skill, determination, and sportsmanship.

The association also acknowledged the crucial support of observers, volunteers, and staff for facilitating smooth trials and extended best wishes to both teams ahead of the Senior National Games.
