Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla chaired a Tuberculosis (TB) Elimination Review Meeting at Rampur today, expressing concern that Himachal Pradesh had not achieved its target of becoming a TB-free state by 2024. “We must identify the reasons and take concerted action to make Himachal TB-free this year,” he said.
The Governor urged social organizations, institutions, and individuals to participate as Nikshay Mitras—mentors who support TB patients through their treatment. He stressed that patients must complete the standard six-month TB treatment, and those who do are recognized as TB Champions.
Highlighting his personal involvement, Governor Shukla shared that he had adopted 59 TB patients from Nirmand block, while six patients from Ani block were adopted by his Secretary at Raj Bhavan. During the event, nutrition kits were distributed to TB patients from both blocks.
WHO Technical Consultant Dr. Nishant Soni provided a detailed overview of the TB situation in the state, while TB Champions shared their personal experiences. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by Sub-Divisional Magistrate Rampur, Shri Harsh Negi.
