HIMTREK–I 2026, an eight-day NCC adventure camp hosted at Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Waknaghat, concluded successfully after bringing together cadets from across the country for a unique blend of adventure, learning, and leadership development.
Held from June 5 to 12, the camp offered participants an opportunity to explore the natural beauty, culture, and heritage of Himachal Pradesh while engaging in a range of challenging and educational activities.
A major highlight of the camp was a series of trekking expeditions to Dumher, Wakna, Tara Devi, Karol Tibba, and Bahra, designed to build endurance, teamwork, and leadership skills among the cadets. Educational visits to the Science Museum, Mushroom Research Centre, Jatoli Temple, and Shoolini Temple further enriched the experience by exposing participants to scientific innovation, local culture, and heritage.
The camp also featured a number of motivational and awareness sessions. Col. Vivek Bhatara guided cadets on Services Selection Board (SSB) preparation, while Honorary Captain Vinod Kumar and SM Rajinder Kumar shared their experiences from the Kargil War. Career guidance sessions by ARO Shimla and an awareness programme on organ donation by the MOHAN Foundation added further value to the camp.
Cadets enthusiastically participated in sports competitions, cultural programmes, painting events, and Best Out of Waste contests, fostering creativity, camaraderie, and team spirit.
The grand finale, held on June 11, featured a vibrant cultural evening showcasing the talents of cadets from different NCC directorates. The closing ceremony was attended by Prof. R. K. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, JUIT, and Brig. R. K. Sharma, Registrar, JUIT. On the occasion, the Best Directorate Trophy was awarded to the Rajasthan Directorate for its outstanding overall performance throughout the camp.
HIMTREK–I 2026 concluded on a high note, leaving participants with lasting memories, strengthened leadership qualities, and a deeper appreciation of the NCC motto — “Unity and Discipline.”
