Education Minister Rohit Thakur on Friday said that panchayats across the State are witnessing holistic development, with sustained efforts being made to strengthen basic infrastructure and public services at the grassroots level. He was speaking during his visit to Jubbal subdivision, where he inspected two major developmental projects.
The Education Minister inspected the under-construction State Institute of Educational Management and Training (SIEMAT) at Dakaid near Jubbal. Describing it as a major and significant institution for the region, he said that once completed, the institute will provide teacher training to educators from across Himachal Pradesh and other parts of the country. This, he added, would help strengthen the foundational framework of education and improve its overall quality.
The SIEMAT institute is being constructed at a cost of ₹17 crore by HIMUDA. The Minister directed the executing agency to ensure that the construction work is completed within the stipulated time frame.
Later, Rohit Thakur also inspected the construction work of a Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Khadapathar, being built at a cost of ₹1.87 crore. He said that with the objective of strengthening healthcare infrastructure in his Assembly constituency, 11 Primary Health Centres are being constructed, out of which one at Barthata (Batadgalu) has already been inaugurated.
Addressing a gathering at a function organized in the premises of Gram Panchayat Parali, the Education Minister said that Parali Panchayat, like other panchayats, has witnessed comprehensive development. He highlighted the construction of various roads and buildings in the area and informed that the upgradation work of the Khadapathar–Patsari road is underway at a cost of ₹17.16 crore, which includes metalling and tarring.
Referring to Giri Ganga as a sacred and scenic destination of the Jubbal region, Rohit Thakur said that the Khadapathar–Giri Ganga road has been paved at a cost of ₹6.46 crore. He added that this road will benefit local residents and tourists alike, thereby promoting tourism and regional development. He further informed that under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), an amount of ₹2.96 crore has been sanctioned for the Madan contact road, and construction work will begin soon after completion of formalities.
Extending New Year 2026 greetings, the Education Minister prayed for happiness and prosperity for all residents of Himachal Pradesh. Reflecting on the completion of three years of the present State Government in 2025, he said that Himachal Pradesh has undertaken a strong and unprecedented journey of development. He acknowledged that the State also faced difficult times due to natural disasters in 2023 and 2025, which caused losses amounting to thousands of crores. Expressing optimism, he said that the coming year would bring peace, stability and new development opportunities for the State.
Several public representatives, Congress leaders, senior officers and officials from various departments, along with local residents, were present on the occasion.
