Technical education is crucial in developing skilled manpower, enhancing industrial productivity, and improving the quality of life. The present HP Government is committed to providing employment-oriented technical education to students in the state.
New Value Added Courses:
To provide required skills to youth in sectors with more employment opportunities, the government has started new Value Added Courses. These courses, such as Robotics, Cyber Security, Cloud Computing, and Artificial Intelligence, will help students get quality technical education and increase employment opportunities.
New Courses in Government Institutions: (HP Government)
New courses like Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning have been started in various government institutions, providing an edge to youth in different fields.
Courses in ITIs:
Electric Vehicles Mechanic, Maintenance Mechanic, Solar Technician, Drone Technician, Mechatronics and Internet of Things (IoTs) Technician courses will be started in 13 ITIs of the state. Efforts will also be made to improve infrastructure and facilities in 12 ITIs under the World Bank funded Project STRIVE.
MERITE Project:
To upgrade the level of technical education, the government will implement the “Multi-Disciplinary Education and Research Improvement in Technical Education (MERITE) Project.” In the first phase, four engineering colleges and eight polytechnics will be covered under this ambitious programme in the next five years.
