In line with the state government’s mission to make Himachal Pradesh a Drug-Free State, an Anti-Chitta Pledge Ceremony was organized at the office of the Labour Welfare Officer under the guidance of Hon’ble Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
The programme was presided over by the Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (HPBOCW), Nardev Singh Kanwar, who administered the pledge to officers and staff. He reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and substance abuse, describing Chitta as a serious threat to the youth and the future of the state.
Kanwar stated that the Board is fully committed to supporting the Chief Minister’s campaign to eliminate the drug menace and safeguard Himachal’s social fabric. He urged Labour Welfare Officers to spread awareness among construction workers and their families, encouraging them to remain alert and resist the influence of drugs.
Emphasizing holistic welfare, the Chairman noted that workers’ well-being extends beyond financial assistance to include their physical and mental health, both of which are adversely affected by drug abuse. Calling upon every citizen to participate in the “War on Drugs,” he stressed the moral responsibility of government departments to lead by example.
The ceremony concluded with all participants pledging to report drug-related activities, promote awareness, and support rehabilitation efforts in their respective areas.
