CM Sukhu highlighted the strategic importance of the newly established Himachal Pradesh Energy Management Centre (HPEMC) in efficiently managing electricity sales and purchases. Speaking at a meeting of the HPEMC today, he emphasized that the centre aims to maximize state revenue while minimizing power procurement costs.
With winter approaching, the Chief Minister directed officials to prepare a detailed action plan for power procurement. He pointed out that reduced water flow in rivers during the colder months, caused by snowfall in higher altitudes, necessitates advanced planning to ensure an uninterrupted and cost-effective power supply.
CM Sukhu stressed that HPEMC would play a pivotal role in energy trading, securing optimum financial benefits for Himachal Pradesh. He called for the organisation to operate with the highest levels of professionalism, ensuring transparency and maximizing returns.
Reaffirming the State Government’s commitment, the Chief Minister assured full support to strengthen the HPEMC and boost its operational efficiency. He also reminded that the current Congress Government had set a goal in its first budget to make Himachal Pradesh a Green Energy State by March 31, 2026, with ongoing efforts to realize this vision.
