On the occasion of the 56th Foundation Day of Himachal Pradesh University (HPU),CM Sukhu extended heartfelt greetings to the people of the state, hailing the university as a cornerstone of youth empowerment and societal progress.

Celebrating 55 years of academic excellence, the Chief Minister lauded HPU not only as a centre of learning but also as a symbol of Himachal Pradesh’s social, political, cultural, and economic evolution. Reflecting on his personal journey as an alumnus of HPU, CM Sukhu credited the institution with playing a transformative role in shaping his life, values, and leadership.

In his message, the Chief Minister underlined the urgency of adapting to the rapidly evolving landscape of information technology. He called upon the university to become a hub of transformation—modernizing its curricula, reforming administrative systems, and aligning education with current and future market needs.

He stressed the importance of introducing relevant, skill-based courses while phasing out outdated programs, with the aim of producing not just degree holders but capable, self-reliant individuals equipped to meet future challenges. The recent establishment of five new research centres at HPU was welcomed as a progressive step in this direction.

Appreciating the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Dr. Mahavir Singh, the CM expressed optimism that HPU would continue on its path of innovation and excellence. He also acknowledged the generous contribution of the university’s teaching and non-teaching staff to the Chief Minister Relief Fund for disaster-affected communities, calling it a noble gesture reflective of their social commitment.

The Foundation Day served as a reminder of HPU’s enduring legacy and its vital role in shaping a brighter, empowered future for Himachal Pradesh’s youth.
