On the occasion of the 77th Republic Day, the National Flag was hoisted at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS), Rashtrapati Nivas, Shimla, by the Institute’s Director, Professor Himanshu Kumar Chaturvedi. The ceremony symbolized the triumph of India’s independence, democratic values, and constitutional principles.
Addressing the gathering, Professor Chaturvedi said that Republic Day reminds citizens of their duties toward the nation and inspires active participation in national development. He highlighted that the day offers an opportunity to internalize the values enshrined in the Constitution of India—justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity—which form the bedrock of the country’s democracy.
Reflecting on the ongoing Amrit Kaal (2021–2047), Professor Chaturvedi noted that it represents India’s historic resolve to become a self-reliant and developed nation by 2047. He emphasized that collective effort, innovation, knowledge, and responsibility are key to achieving this vision.
He further urged individuals to recognize that even small contributions can create significant change, strengthening the nation-building process.
The Republic Day ceremony was attended by officers, staff members, and Fellows of the Institute, who reaffirmed their commitment to national unity and constitutional values.
