MLAs including Minister of State Kamlesh Dhanda and local MPs of Haryana actively voiced their views to share the landmark achievements of the Ministry of Women and Child Development during a sub-zonal meeting that was organized in Panipat. During the review meeting, representatives of UNICEF, universities, social organizations and state government gave their presentations. The schemes started by the Union Minister of Women and Child Development during the last 8 years reviewed were nutrition campaign, Saksham Anganwadi, Mission Shakti Scheme, Mission Vatsalya and Beti Bachao – Beti Padhao among others.
The main objective of the meet was to inform and create awareness among the people who are already associated with the work related to women and children, may that be in form of an NGO, One Stop Centers, University or Educational institutions. During the meet children and women beneficiaries of various government schemes shared their personal experiences and showed their gratitude towards PM Narendra Modi for serving as a ray of hope in bleak times. Various presentations on schemes including ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ , ‘Poshan’ and ‘Impact on Children Over The Last 8 Years ‘ by UNICEF were presented highlighting empowerment journey of ordinary women and children with the help of various government schemes.
Himachal Pradesh’s Director for Women and Child Development, Rupali Thakur was also present representing the State and the workings of the Department, such as carrying out campaigns to educate women and parents regarding beneficial policies implemented by the government. Keekli Charitable Trust representatives too shared a brief detail about the work they were undertaking along with their vision to further work with the WCD to actively engage with children and create means of livelihood by educating them about vocational courses. Another aspect was laying emphasis on counseling sessions for children along with taking stringent steps to curb drug abuse.
