The Himachal Pradesh State Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, held a crucial meeting today to approve several decisions aimed at enhancing state infrastructure, public services, and environmental initiatives.
2,061 Van Mitras to be Engaged in the Forest Department
In a major step toward forest conservation, the Cabinet approved the recruitment of 2,061 Van Mitras. This decision eliminates the 10-mark personal interview criterion, making the selection process more streamlined and fairer.
New Appointments in Hamirpur Medical College
To improve healthcare services, the Cabinet sanctioned the creation of 150 nursing personnel posts at Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College, Hamirpur. Additionally, 16 new faculty posts, including six Associate Professors and 10 Assistant Professors, will be filled across key medical departments.
Enhanced Safety and Disaster Management Initiatives
The Cabinet approved the creation of new police posts and a fire post in key districts. A new Police Post at Shinkula (Lahaul-Spiti) and a new Fire Post in Indora (Kangra) were sanctioned, along with a Sub-Divisional Police Officer’s office at Nadaun in Hamirpur district.
Further, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) will now be under the administrative control of the Additional Director General (Home Guards and Civil Defence) to ensure swift disaster management.
Promoting Electric Vehicles and Green Corridors
In line with Himachal Pradesh’s focus on sustainability, the Cabinet approved expanding the EV charging network along six green corridors. The state currently operates 77 EV charging stations, with plans to involve private players for further expansion.
Amendments to Eco-Tourism Policy and Parking Facilities Review
The Cabinet amended the Eco-tourism Policy 2017 to align with recent changes in the Forest Conservation Act (FCA) 2023, aiming to foster eco-tourism in the state. Additionally, a Cabinet Sub-Committee was formed to review parking facilities in Shimla City under the PPP model, ensuring smoother traffic management and improved tourist experiences.
Automated Vehicle Testing Stations for Fitness Assessments
To modernize vehicle fitness assessments, the Cabinet approved the establishment of five automated testing stations, utilizing advanced equipment to enhance the vehicle inspection process in the state.
