The Department of Industries, Government of Himachal Pradesh, organized an awareness workshop in Kullu today with the objective of strengthening Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), promoting entrepreneurship, and nurturing a supportive environment for industrial growth in the state.
The workshop saw active participation from multiple government departments and industrial bodies. Key attendees included P.L. Negi, General Manager, District Industries Centre (DIC) Kullu; S.S. Shinde, Assistant Manager (Commercial), National Handloom Development Corporation Ltd.; and Somesh Sharma, Manager, DIC Kullu.
More than 60 participants from MSMEs, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and cooperatives took part in the discussions. Experts from the department elaborated on the Micro and Small Enterprise Cluster Development Programme (MSME-CDP), detailing its objectives, provisions, and benefits. Key focus areas included Minimum Support Price (MSP), cluster-based industrial development, competitiveness enhancement, and climate-friendly production methods.
Addressing the participants, P.L. Negi, GM DIC Kullu, said:
“The Government of India’s initiative to promote micro and small enterprises through a cluster-based approach is highly commendable. In Himachal Pradesh, the Department of Industries is effectively implementing this program, making local enterprises more empowered, capable, and competitive.”
The workshop further highlighted the importance of the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Scheme, circular economy-based industrial practices, resource efficiency, and productivity improvement. Participants also shared suggestions emphasizing the need for increased collaboration, innovation, and skill development in the MSME sector.
With this event, the Department of Industries reiterated its commitment to continuous engagement, knowledge exchange, and effective policy implementation to foster sustainable growth. The Department emphasized its long-term vision of positioning Himachal Pradesh as a center of innovation, competitiveness, and sustainable industrial development.
