A delegation from Kaamdhenu Hitkari Society met with CM Sukhu today to express gratitude for the enhancement of freight subsidy from ₹1.50 to ₹3 per litre for registered milk producers in the State. The delegation shared that this decision will directly benefit nearly 6,000 dairy farming families associated with the society.

The farmers hailed Himachal Pradesh as the first state in India to provide such a freight subsidy for milk producers, calling the move a reflection of the Chief Minister’s empathy and commitment toward farmers’ welfare.

Sukhu reiterated the State Government’s resolve to strengthen the rural economy and increase farmers’ incomes through targeted support schemes. He noted that Himachal offers the highest minimum support price (MSP) for milk in the country—₹51/litre for cow milk and ₹61/litre for buffalo milk.

In addition to dairy, the CM highlighted ongoing efforts to promote organic and natural farming. He mentioned that the State Government provides MSPs for naturally grown crops like wheat (₹60/kg), maize (₹40/kg), barley (₹60/kg), and raw turmeric (₹90/kg). He urged farmers to take full advantage of these programs to boost their earnings and improve livelihoods.

The Chief Minister also confirmed his participation in an upcoming event organized by Kaamdhenu Milk Society, scheduled for the first week of September.

MLA Sanjay Awasthy, who was present at the meeting, praised the initiative and appreciated the Chief Minister’s responsiveness to the concerns of farmers, daily wage workers, and the rural community. He emphasized that revitalizing the rural economy remains a key priority of the State Government, with policies yielding positive results on the ground.
