“Movement Magic” a cultural event by the students of Winter Hobby Classes including students of Classical Dance and Contemporary Dance was organized by the Department of Language, Art and Culture, Himachal Pradesh and the Gaiety Dramatic Society Shimla at Gaiety Theatre Shimla as Yunus, I.A.S., Addl. District Commissioner Shimla, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion he expressed joy after watching the young, talented children perform on the stage. He said that it is really encouraging step that parents are now able to shift their attention from studies alone and have started to realize the importance of extra co-curricular activities too.
Guest of Honour Prem Sharma, Vice Chairman Himachal Pradesh Academy of Language, Art and Culture too appreciated the efforts put in by Poonam Sharma, the dance teacher. He congratulated and lauded her efforts in making the young ones dance on stage by giving them confidence.
During the show various sentiments and dance flavours were seen as the show started with a Ganpati Vandana followed by patriotic feelings as students danced to the tune of Vande Matram.
Kathak Nritya, Bhava Nritya along with various contemporary dance forms won the hearts of all. However, Rajasthani Folk Dance was the highlight of the show as it brought colours of Rajasthan alive on the stage and everyone felt transported to the land of Kings.
Everyone was pleased with the dance performances and students too felt satisfied as smiles on their faces showed that they have placed their best foot forward. Many of them who were shy to shake a leg now seem determined to leave no stone unturned and danced as no one was watching for rest of their lives.
