Shimla City people got an opportunity to witness a different and responsible side of young citizens of Shimla in a form of an event called the MUSE, which was organized at the amphitheater at historic Gaiety Theatre here today. While informing about the event, members of “YOUNGLINKS” (organizers) informed that we have united together to encourage the dreams and wishes of today`s young souls who can change the criticisms within that had lead to a waste of their skills and true value of each. MUSE has been organized in order to raise our voices against gender discrimination and for women empowerment. As the title suggest we are celebrating an inspiring spirit of a woman, who is the source of inspiration for a creative artist.
During the event various artist from Shimla as well as Chandigarh performed and paid their tribute to women. A street play was also staged reflecting on the normal social conditions of women in our society. Local young dancers made their presence felt in a big way with their dance numbers right from Bollywood style to free style dancing.
Many youngsters came forward sharing their experience of fair sexes’ daily ordeal. Most of them reflected on the fact that the need of the hour is change in an overall outlook.
While commenting about the event, Simran one of the spectators said, “I am glad that such kind of events is organized and youngsters are already so sensitive towards such issues regarding women. It is often seen that women take a back seat in our society and in the patriarchal system her existence is continuously under threat. Hope that with passage of time their mind set doesn’t get changed and they continue to respect women and fight for her right with the same spirit. The fire within them continues to burn always”.
