Bishop Cotton School (BCS) in Shimla is gearing up for a spectacular musical performance of ‘Grease,’ in collaboration with Auckland House School. This exciting event promises to be a celebration of musical and acting talent in the picturesque city of Shimla.
The musical, famously portrayed in the film featuring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, will grace the stage from October 19th to 20th, 2023. The stage has been specially constructed on the first floor of BCS for this grand occasion. Additionally, a special highlights show is scheduled for October 25, 2023, at the Gothic Gaiety Theatre in Shimla.
This extravaganza will showcase the talents of students from Bishop Cotton School and Auckland House. It brings together actors, dancers, and musicians from both schools as they recreate the iconic 1950s musical, ‘Grease.’
Months of intense rehearsals have led up to this grand production, with dedicated teachers and students handling all aspects of music production and direction. The BCS Art Department and skilled carpenters have meticulously designed the stage, complete with a 1950s red car and various props, including a ’50s Diner café and jukebox. Notably, the BCS school band, led by Reuben John, will perform all the tracks live, supported by choirs from each school—no backing tracks will be used.
