To mark the 6th anniversary of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA), the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment is mobilizing over crore citizens for a National Mass Pledge Against Drug Abuse. During high-level coordination meetings chaired by Joint Secretary Dr. Sandeep Rewaji Rathod, officials mapped out a nationwide operational strategy engaging multiple ministries, educational institutions, field formations, and law enforcement agencies to conduct simultaneous physical and digital pledge ceremonies.
Launched on August 15, 2020, to curb substance abuse through evidence-based interventions, the campaign has already reached more than crore citizens, including crore youth and crore women. Community participation continues to grow, backed by over lakh volunteer Nasha Mukti Mitras working on ground-level awareness and rehabilitation support under the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction.
To broaden public participation, the Ministry has integrated digital solutions, enabling citizens to take the e-pledge online or register as volunteers. Public support mechanisms have also been reinforced through the national de-addiction helpline () and the NMBA mobile application, which allows individuals to locate nearby treatment and counseling centers across the country.
