Ocean’s Revenge — Short Story

The ocean sent a message to the rivers. “Where are you? What is happening? Earlier you brought silt and in last few years you have been bringing filth. What nonsense is this? And in last few two years, you have brought nothing. Why?”

“We are drying up,” the rivers replied. “People have encroached upon us. They have built houses on our beds. Also, we have been diverted inside the tunnels dug in the mountains for the hydro projects. We are full of plastic and glass. What do we do? We do not feel like coming to you because we have been contaminated by people. We are unable to flow properly. We face end number of hindrances on our way to you. The filth is so much that by the time we are halfway to meet you, we dry up. Sorry, we may not meet you in the future. Please do not wait for us.”

The ocean was both, angry and worried, ‘what to do?’ he thought. This is not a good sign for me. I must do something. He requested the Sun to shine more and create more clouds. The Sun did that and the clouds obliged.

And the result is here!
