State Council for Science, Technology & Environment, Himachal Pradesh organised a One Day Training Workshop on Himachal Pradesh Children’s Science Congress – 2016 at the State Institute of Health and Family Welfare, Parimahal, Shimla on 4th July, 2016 in collaboration with Department of Science & Technology (DST), New Delhi, GoI, NCSTC Network and Department of Education, Himachal Pradesh. The theme for this year is “Science, Technology & Innovation for Sustainable Development”.
Children’s Science Congress is one of the major activities of the State Council for popularizing science which is being held annually for the last 23 years in collaboration with DST, NCSTC and State Education Department. The workshop provided an important platform for interaction of science teachers with the officials from DST and NCSTC which enriched their understanding about selection and execution of science projects for Children’s Science Congress. All district science supervisors and about 60 science teachers from various sub-divisions of the State including those from tribal areas of Chamba, Kinnaur & Lahaul Spiti attended the workshop.
Member Secretary, State Council for Science, Technology & Environment, A.K. Lal, was the chief guest on the occasion, while other guests included Director Elementary Education, Manmohan Sharma, B.K. Tyagi, Scientist-E, Vigyan Prasar, Department of Science & Technology, New Delhi, Dr. Neelam Gulati, Director (Retd.), Punjab State Council for Science & Technology and Member NCSTC Network, Dr. Madhu Phull, Scientist (ex-Head.), NCSTC, DST New Delhi and Principal, SIHFW, Dr. Harsharan Kaur.
Keynote address on Children’s Science Congress was delivered by B.K. Tyagi. Technical sessions were conducted by the resource persons Dr. Neelam Gulati, Dr. Madhu Phull and Pankaj Verma, TGT Science, Govt. Senior Secondary School, Bajaura, Kullu.
