Prime Minister Narendra Modi commenced the groundbreaking ceremony for the redevelopment of 508 railway stations across India under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), including the Amb-Andaura railway station in Himachal Pradesh. The event took place in New Delhi and was attended by Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur, and other dignitaries. Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu participated virtually from New Delhi.

Governor Shukla praised Prime Minister Modi’s commitment to railway development and expressed gratitude for including Amb-Andaura station in the redevelopment plan. The station’s renovation is set to cost Rs. 20.74 crore. The Governor also highlighted the significant financial allocation of Rs. 1,838 crore for railway expansion in Himachal Pradesh in the 2023-24 budget. This funding encompasses critical projects such as the Bhanupali-Bilaspur-Beri rail line, Chandigarh-Baddi rail line, and Nangal-Talwara rail line, aiming to enhance religious tourism and connectivity within the state.

The Governor commended the efforts of Ambala Division in designing a development plan for Amb-Andaura Railway Station, focusing on local art, culture, and modernization. The station’s transformation into an Amrit Bharat station includes traffic improvements and beautification of the surrounding area.

Union Minister Anurag Thakur acknowledged the Prime Minister’s support for including Amb-Andaura station in the redevelopment initiative. He highlighted the substantial increase in the railway budget, reaching Rs. 2,40,000 crore, and achievements like extensive electrification and modernization of railways, including smart coaches and Vande Bharat trains. He underscored the positive impact of the redevelopment on the station’s facilities and infrastructure.

The event also recognized 18 exceptional students from local schools for their achievements during the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations. Prominent figures, including MLAs, former ministers, and railway officials, were present at the ceremony.
