Live like you will die tomorrow and read like you have thousands of years to live – as Mr Sriniwas Joshi shared with our audience today during a LIVE interview!

The inaugural episode of “व्यक्तित्व – बातचीत का कारवां” featuring Sriniwas Joshi, a well-known personality of Shimla City and Aahr Singh, a class nine student of Auckland House School, Shimla, was streamed Live today at Brews & Books Café, Shimla, which only strengthened our idea that opening a channel of communication between the seniors and young readers was a positive step in this direction. With no inhibitions, imbibed with confidence and poise, Aahr was at her best to sit on one-to-one casual conversation with Mr Joshi to talk about his life and personal experiences.

Srinivas Joshi is a columnist, theatre artist and retired civil servant from Himachal Pradesh. As a columnist, Mr Joshi is particularly known for his column ‘Vignettes’ in a known English daily, through which he has documented people, history, places and special things throughout Himachal Pradesh. As a theatre personality, he has been associated with Shimla’s historic Gaiety Theatre for decades, for which he has written, acted and directed several plays. As a retired civil servant, he has been active in various civic works in Shimla including heritage conservation, environmental protection and promotion of arts.

Beginning with his early life experiences, Aahr invited him to read one of his favourite stories and an essay which definitely left the audience laughing as well as relating to the context of the idea put forth. He then shared about his professional life, how he started as a teacher, but then ended up as an IAS officer by sheer chance and his love for reading and writing. The ease with which Aahr steered the conversation and hid her nervousness, sheds light about the fact that it helped in her confidence and character building.

Joining the audience were students of the Literary Club of the Himachal Pradesh University Institute of Legal Studies (HPUILS), who also later joined the conversation and further engaged and asked questions from Mr Joshi to learn more about the art of writing as well as cracking the administrative exams.

“व्यक्तित्व – बातचीत का कारवां” talk show is specially curated for children and young writers/readers, to give them the opportunity to engage with senior writers and artists in a very casual and unpremeditated manner. During the next fifty-two weeks you will meet with fifty-two personalities, and all our interviewers will be school, college or university students.
