On the occasion of World Environment Day, PM Modi participated in a tree plantation drive at Bhagwan Mahavir Vanasthali Park in Delhi, planting a sapling as part of the growing #EkPedMaaKeNaam campaign. The initiative aims to inspire citizens to plant trees in honor of their mothers, fostering personal responsibility toward environmental protection.

The Prime Minister’s participation also signified strong support for the Aravalli Green Wall Project, an ambitious effort to rejuvenate the ecologically significant Aravalli range, which stretches across Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Delhi. Describing it as one of the planet’s oldest mountain ranges, PM Modi emphasized the urgent need to address the environmental degradation it faces, including desertification, declining water systems, and dust storms.

He outlined the government’s commitment to large-scale reforestation using both traditional and innovative planting techniques, especially in urban and semi-urban areas where space is limited. Notably, all plantation activities will be geo-tagged and tracked through the Meri LiFE portal, ensuring transparency and sustained monitoring.

Urging young people to take the lead, the Prime Minister called on India’s youth to contribute actively to expanding green cover and protecting the country’s ecological heritage. This initiative aligns with India’s broader environmental goals and reflects a deepening commitment to sustainability, ecological restoration, and citizen-led action for a greener future.
