Prayas – Ek Nayi Shuruaat – a laudable initiative was taken up by the students of DAV School, Lakkar Bazaar, Shimla, to create awareness among the youth regarding positive way to channelize their energy.
Ravinder Singh, one of the organizers said, “It is our first step to create awareness among youth regarding drugs and in my teaching career I have experienced that so many children are full of talent and creativity, it is really sad that they don’t get a platform to showcase their talent and feel neglected.”
“For us Prayas is People Raising Awareness in Youth and Society. It is a small initiative, an idea that came into existence with exchange of ideas in classroom and bringing it into practical life,” he further added.
Prem Prakash Pandit, Amrit Pal Singh, Social Activist and President of Sri Krishna Khel Avam Sanskrit Yuva Mandal, Kaithu, Suvidha Kumari, Social Activist and Virender Thakur, Gaurav Sharma, Gaurav Goel, members of The New Life Foundation, Drug De-addiction Counseling & Rehabitilation Society, Vill. Boelia, New Pantaghati, graced the occasion as guests.
Students presented a cultural programme and narrated their poem, presented their views on feminism which is often misunderstood and examined under a tainted light. Few of the participating students were Jigyasa, Samridhi, Ishita, Simran, Gauri, Hansika, Pranav, Shubhanshu, Sarthak, Anuroop, Anuj, Ruchika, Sakshi, Himani, Kanishka, Shruti, and Sarvesh among others. The event turned out to be a huge success, as by making students collaborate and bring a new change in society in form of event management. They all leaned to utilize their time in a positive manner that not only helped them grow but also gave them an opportunity to give back to the society something positive and make a difference in the lives of others.
