The much-awaited Keekli Book Club — first of its kind, an open children’s book club for all — held its first session at North Oak Public School, Sanjauli. Without leaps of imagination or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities was the theme that was clearly visible throughout the session as members of the book club interacted and learnt about each other’s areas of reading interest. The age group was as varied as 8 to 25 years, but they all shared one common interest — Love for Reading.

Keekli Book ClubThe session was convened by noted writer as well as our patron Minaskhi Chaudhary, who not only interacted with children giving them a brief about various aspect of writing, including difference between fictional and non-fictional writing, she also enlightened and guided the club members by sharing her own writing experiences.

Each member of the club narrated her/his recently read story to give a better understanding of their taste as far as reading is concerned. The day turned out to be great as each child was happy to interact and learn about writing. (See All Videos)

Like it is said a book is a version of the world. If you do not like it, ignore it or offer your own version in return therefore for our next session each member was give a topic to knit his/her story around to be shared.

Readers are mostly divided into two classes — those who read to remember and those who read to forget, but the bottom line still remains that one should always read, read and read, as Minakshi pointed out that to be a good writer one has to be a good reader too.

Considering that, any book that helps a child to form a habit of reading, to make reading one of his deep and continuing needs, is good for him; members were given access to Keekli Book Shelf from where they were allowed to pick a book as per their own choice to be read and discussed in next session.

Team Keekli is thankful to Ritu Bhushan and Ajanta Guhathakurta for donating books for the Keekli Library along with School Principal Namita Lal, North Oak Public School, for giving us the premises and housing the Keekli library.

The participating members for the first session were — Stavya Pandit, Sarah Dangwal, Adyut Dangwal, Ahar Singh, Pritha Doegar, Shreshth Singha, Adhiraj Singha, Rudra Chauhan, Dhruv Chauhan and Abhishek Prince.
