‘Sashakt Mahila Rin Yojna’ to Empower Women Entrepreneurs

In a progressive stride towards gender equity and economic empowerment, the state government introduces the ‘Sashakt Mahila Rin Yojna,’ a pioneering initiative to facilitate women’s entrepreneurial aspirations and livelihood pursuits. The scheme, unveiled by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on July 20th, aims to empower women, provide collateral-free credit, and bolster women-oriented schemes.

The ‘Sashakt Mahila Rin Yojna’ focuses on extending collateral-free credit to eligible women for various livelihood activities, micro-enterprises, agriculture, and business ventures. This innovative feature eliminates the need for loan security, enabling women without valuable assets to access funds fearlessly.

Beneficiaries can avail credit facilities of Rs. 21,000, Rs. 51,000, and Rs. 1,01,000. The first loan of Rs. 21,000 targets women aged 18 to 55 years with two savings accounts in the Himachal Pradesh State Cooperative Bank. Successful repayment leads to eligibility for subsequent loans, all with favorable terms and an affordable interest rate of 8.51%.

Moreover, families opening savings bank accounts with minimum balances qualify for a 100% ATM charge waiver, promoting financial awareness and inclusion. This initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to women’s economic empowerment and gender equality.

The government has allocated Rs. 4,302.45 crores for women-oriented programs, signifying its dedication to uplifting women’s lives. This strategic approach contributes to creating a more equitable and prosperous society, empowering women to achieve their dreams.
