Isha Foundation, Conscious Planet, founded by Sadhguru initiated an awareness cleanup Drive in Shimla on June 5, World Environment Day, based on the UNEP theme Beat the Plastic and Save Soil. It was supported by the Forest Department and people from all walks of life. Save Soil Movement was initiated in 2022 by Sadhguru. Bringing the movement to Shimla more than 30 schools had participated and pledged support towards the initiative.
Celebrating the world environment day with a message, The Shimla Clean-Up was an Action-Driven Campaign where the participants cleaned up the Glen Hill at Annadale and collected tons of garbage which was handed over to the municipal corporation. The participants also took a pledge to spread the awareness and act consciously to keep the environment healthy.
The aim of the drive is to make people aware of the impending crisis on our planet and humanity which is soil degradation and one of the major contributing factors towards this degradation is plastic waste. As Responsible Citizens, we must make sure we end the “use and throw” mentality and respect all life in the creation because everything comes from the Living Earth (Soil).
This is not about reducing pollution but about sharing the planet with all life consciously and responsibly. The cleanliness drive was guided by DFO, Mr Rajesh Sharma and his respected team of officers, Mr Bhupinder Singh, Mr Saurabh and Miss Monika. Ex-mayor Shimla, Mrs Kusum Sadrate and her team, Mrs Bontika, and respected Ex-Counsellor, Mr. Sunil Dhar along with Excise Officer, Mr. Rakesh Sharma supported the campaign with their active participation.
Isha foundation volunteers of Shimla, Mrs Kamlesh, Mrs Sheetal, Dr Kushla, Mr Ayush, Mr Susheel, Mr Gaurav Raja and Ms Uma planned, organized and executed the entire campaign as per the Save Soil Movement guidelines. “Soil is not our property.
