A three-member team from the New Development Bank (NDB), headquartered in Shanghai, met Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri today to discuss funding options for the ambitious Shimla Ropeway Project. The project aims to revolutionize urban transportation in Shimla, reducing traffic congestion and promoting eco-friendly travel in the region.
Meeting Focus: Loan Negotiations for Shimla Ropeway Project
The Deputy Chief Minister assured the NDB team that all necessary formalities will be swiftly completed by the State Government to facilitate timely negotiations. The loan discussions will be conducted with the Department of Economic Affairs, as outlined in the project’s memorandum.
Shimla Ropeway: A Step Toward Greener and Cleaner Himachal
Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri emphasized that the ropeway project will significantly reduce traffic congestion in Shimla while also minimizing carbon emissions. This initiative aligns with the state’s vision of creating a Greener and Cleaner Himachal Pradesh, offering a sustainable and faster mode of transport for both locals and tourists.
New Development Bank Team’s Visit and Discussions
The NDB team, led by Tony Nkuna, with members Charmaine Kazamula and Garvit Sah, will visit the proposed stations for the Shimla Ropeway after in-depth discussions with financial and technical experts. They will be accompanied by Director of Ropeways and Rapid Transport System Development Corporation (RTDC), Er. Ajay Sharma, and other experts.
