As part of the nationwide ‘Swachhata Hi Sewa 2024’ campaign, SJVN is conducting various activities across all its offices and projects from September 17 to October 2, 2024. In Shimla, SJVN organized a walkathon and cleanliness drive today to raise awareness about environmental preservation and community involvement in keeping surroundings clean.
The event witnessed active participation from students and local authorities, symbolizing the importance of collective efforts in achieving the goals of the Swachhata Hi Sewa campaign. The walkathon began from the SJVN office complex and concluded at Dhobi Ghat, Chotta Shimla, with over 150 enthusiastic participants, including students from Government High School (GHS), Navbahar, Shimla.
Leadership and community engagement
The event was attended by senior SJVN officials, including Ajay Kumar Sharma, Director Personnel (Designate), S. Maraswamy, Executive Director (Civil), and Chandra Shekhar Yadav, Executive Director (HR). These officials, along with the heads of departments, employees, and students, set the tone for a successful day of action by starting the event with the Swachhata Anthem.
Walkathon and cleanliness drive
The walkathon served as a platform to promote cleanliness and environmental stewardship among students and employees alike. With the involvement of municipal sanitation workers, the cleanliness drive at Dhobi Ghat further emphasized the collaborative effort required to maintain clean and hygienic public spaces.
Poster-making competition
In addition to the walkathon, a poster-making competition was organized on September 24, 2024, where 60 students from GHS Navbahar participated. The winners were honored for their creative contributions to the cleanliness movement, highlighting the importance of engaging youth in such causes.
The events organized by SJVN stand as a testament to its commitment to promoting environmental sustainability and public health through community-driven initiatives. These efforts continue to inspire greater participation from local communities in the ongoing ‘Swachhata Hi Sewa’ campaign.
