St. Thomas’ School Champions Inclusive Education with ‘Sapno Ki Udaan’ Youth Theatre Festival

St. Thomas’ School reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive education by hosting the innovative Youth Theatre Festival, Sapno Ki Udaan, dedicated to children with special needs. The event, which marked the grand culmination of the school’s centenary celebrations, brought together eighteen schools from across the city to celebrate diversity, talent, and inclusion through creative theatrical performances.

Under the theme “No matter how different we all are, embracing each other without discrimination,” participating schools showcased skits highlighting the dreams and strengths of children with special needs. The festival sent a powerful message of unity and acceptance to the community.

The closing ceremony was graced by MLA Harish Janartha, who presented trophies and certificates to the winners. He praised St. Thomas’ School, Principal Vidhupriya Chakravarty, and her dedicated team for organizing an event that spotlighted the importance of mental health and support for children with special needs.

Principal Chakravarty welcomed participants and highlighted how the skits provided an opportunity to celebrate the aspirations of children with special needs.

Participating Schools: Auckland House School; Auckland House School for Boys; Bishop Cotton School; Convent of Jesus & Mary; Chapslee School; IVY International School; Loreto Convent Tara Hall; Monal Public School; Mount Shivalik; Sacred Heart Convent; St. Mary’s; Blue Bells Public School; Swaran Public School; Shimla Public School; DAV Tutu; JCB School; Dayanand Public School; Govt. Sr. Sec. School Lalpani.

Each school presented skits interpreting the theme Sapno Ki Udaan, celebrating the dreams and abilities of children with special needs. A panel of esteemed judges — Nandini Banerjee, Ankur Saxena, and Vikas Gautam — evaluated the performances.

Winners:

  • Overall Winner (1st Prize): Henry Ford Group, Monal Public School

  • 1st Runner-Up: Preeti Pal Group, Auckland House School

  • 2nd Runner-Up: Albert Einstein Group, Auckland House School for Boys

  • Best Actor Male (Younger): Steve (Auckland House School for Boys)

  • Best Actor Female: Laila (Thomas Edison Group)

  • Best Prop: Preeti Pal (Auckland House School)

  • Best Costume: Arunima Sinha (Sacred Heart Convent School)

  • Best Background Music: Albert Einstein Group (Auckland House School for Boys)

  • Best Stage Setup: Preeti Pal (Auckland House School)

  • Best Platform Utility: Henry Ford Group

The event concluded with a gratitude address by Mrs. Sharon Nanda, Vice Principal of St. Thomas’ School, celebrating the collective effort to foster an inclusive environment for all students. This inspiring festival not only showcased exceptional talent but also reinforced the school’s mission to empower every child to soar beyond limitations.
