The athletic agility and spirit of sportsmanship was put to test as students of senior wing of St Thomas School showcased their abilities during the Annual Sports Day held at Government School, Chaura Maidan, Shimla. Officer on Special Duty (Elections) Govt of India, Neeraj Kumar Sharma presided over the function as the chief guest who was warmly greeted by the School Principal Vidhupriya Chakravarty. The morning began with an impressive March Past by the students, followed by an equally extraordinary display of physical strength and dexterity.
The students participated in various races and gave their best performances winning medals for their respective houses and personal accolades. The winners of various races were –
Class IX – Flat Race (Girls) 1st Saumya, 2nd Nitika, 3rd Muskan; (Boys) 1st Ranjay, 2nd Rahul, 3rd Karan.
Class VIII – Flat Race (Girls) 1st Kushi, 2nd Nikita, 3rd Purnima; (Boys) 1st Ayush Jagusi, 2nd Tushar, 3rd Ravi.
Class VIII – Sack Race (Girls) 1st gunjan, 2nd Shruti, 3rd Khushi; (Boys) 1st Ayush Jaguri, 2nd Ravi Thakur, 3rd Umair.
Class VII – Flat Race (Girls) 1st Sarehandri, 2nd Nancy, 3rd Bhawna; (Boys) 1st Sumit, 2nd Piyush, 3rd Nishant.
Class VII – Spoon and Lemon Race (Girls) 1st Manpreet Kaur, 2nd Riya, 3rd Nitani; (Boys) 1st Usaid, 2nd Nishant, 3rd Aman.
Head Over Tunnel Race: 1st Shipkila House, 2nd Chinar House, 3rd Toshqui House.
House Relays (Girls) 1st Tishqui, 2nd shipkila, 3rd Chinar; (Boys) 1st Shipkila, 2nd Chinar, 3rd Toshqui.
Overall Standings: 1st Shipkila House; Marching Cup was won by Chinar House; Tug of War by Chinar House.
The morning ended with words of encouragement and appreciation by the chief guest who congratulated all the participants on their medal and for showing such high spirit of sportsmanship. He further added that through such show of physical strength and agility both girls and boys have put up an excellent show today and the dedication of the school management and teachers was also lauded by the chief guest.
