Managing Director and Chairman of HIMCON, Vikesh Chauhan, along with a delegation from Rampur Assembly Constituency, called on CM Sukhu today and expressed gratitude for his appointment. Chauhan assured the Chief Minister that he would make every effort to meet the expectations of the party high command.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Sukhu said that for the first time, a person from Rampur has been entrusted with this responsibility. Highlighting the state government’s three years in office, he said the Congress administration has been working continuously to ensure that welfare schemes reach those at the bottom of society.

The Chief Minister emphasized that nearly 90% of the state’s population resides in rural areas, and keeping this in mind, villages and farmers remain at the centre of the government’s policies and programmes. He said that since the rural economy largely depends on agriculture, the government has prioritized the economic upliftment of farmers, introducing historic measures such as declaring Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for milk and naturally grown farm produce.

Sukhu provided details of procurement prices under the government’s initiatives: wheat from natural farming at Rs. 60 per kg, maize at Rs. 40 per kg, raw turmeric at Rs. 90 per kg, cow milk at Rs. 51 per litre, and buffalo milk at Rs. 61 per litre. Additionally, farmers transporting milk to procurement centres located more than two kilometres away are provided a subsidy of Rs. 2 per litre.
